First aid for abrasions includes cleaning the wound with mild soap and water or by using an antiseptic wash. Then the would should be covered with an antibiotic ointment and a dry dressing to prevent infection. If the athlete suffers a severe abrasion, a doctor should see the wound and remove and debris or dirt in it by irrigation.
Ankle sprains are common injuries as a result of falls and are the result of stretching or tearing the ligaments surrounding the ankle joint. Ankle sprains can also occur when the foot is placed in an inverted or everted position and then weight is applied to the foot causing the ligaments to be stretched. First aid for an ankle sprain includes resting the ankle, applying ice, compression and then elevation which is called the R.I.C.E. treatment.
Those who play sports because of friction and irritation to the surface layer of skin often encounter blisters. Hands and feet are places where blisters usually occur as the skin rubs against shoes, socks or sports equipment. The combination of friction, and warm moist conditions creates the blisters. Preventing blisters requires wearing appropriate footwear and proper socks. The shoes should be the right size and shape. Socks should be made of synthetic material. Applying talcum powder can also reduce the friction. If despite taking precautions you still get blisters the first thing is to clean the blister with antibiotic soap and water. If the blister is broken, apply antibiotic ointment. Either way it is important to cover the blister with a bandage to prevent infection.

The are a result of cumulative trauma to the muscles and bones of the lower leg and to overuse, and muscle fatigue, overload and the inability of the muscles to absorb the stress or shock of repeated impacts. The fatigued muscles than transfer that stress to the nearby bone, which results in, a small crack or fracture in the bones of the lower leg. Improper footwear can result in stress fracture to the feet. Rest is the best treatment for stress fracture.
