Rapper Kanye West, 37, is known for speaking his mind, something concert goers of July 4’s Wireless Festival now know all too well.
During West’s performance at the festival at Finsbury Park in London on Friday, Kim Kardashian’s husband wore a strange all-silver mask that obscured his face and went on a 20-minute rant, according to ABC News.
His rant, following a performance of “Runaway,” touched on several subject matters, including his self-assuredness, critics and the positive impact of the Kardashian family.
“What have I ever done that was so wrong, other than believing in myself?” he asked, reports ABC News. “If believing in yourself is so so so wrong, and the other side is so so so so strong in trying to beat down, and demonize and dishumanize (sic) and I don’t know if that’s a word or not, and if it’s not a word then I said it’s a f—ing word.”
“First thing they do is crush your dreams, then add a couple drops of low self-esteem,” said West. “And control you with lies, control you with lies, control you lies, but we going out of control tonight.”
He also spoke of his wife and her reality television clan. He called them “the most remarkable people of our time” who can “make the world a better place.”
But his 20-minute rant left more to be desired among some in the crowd.
“After about 10 minutes, the boos started and I saw a lot of people leaving,” said one concert goer.
“They were also shouting and swearing at him to get on with it,” reported another.
West headlined the Wireless Festival on Friday. He will return to headline Saturday evening following a cancellation by singer Drake. He will also close the festival on Sunday.
